Cusco Photos

Cusco is a city of 300,000 people in the Andes at an altitude of 3400 metres. Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire until the Spanish conquest turned it into a colonial city.

I took these photos while staying in Cusco for a few days in May, 2007.

Plaza de Armas is Cusco's main square, around which lie the Catholic excesses of La Catedral and Iglesia de la Compañía:

The Convento de Santo Domingo is a large Catholic church built atop the Incan ruins of Qorikancha after the Spanish destroyed it. Qorikancha was the most important temple of the Inca Empire.
